About

Tools, not SEO bait.

Most online dog content exists to rank for ads. We built something different: tools that actually solve problems, free forever, with sources you can verify.

Why we built this

If you Google "how old is my dog in human years," you'll find ten thousand articles using the discredited "multiply by 7" formula. If you Google "can dogs eat X," you'll find listicles with no sources, half of them factually wrong.

Dog owners deserve better. So we built a small set of tools that prioritize accuracy over ranking, and utility over engagement metrics.

What's behind each tool

Age Calculator

Built on the 2019 Wang et al. study (Cell Systems) which used DNA methylation to map dog-to-human aging. The formula human_age = 16 × ln(dog_age) + 31 is far more accurate than 1×7. We additionally adjust for breed size, since smaller dogs reliably outlive giant breeds by years.

Weight Predictor

Uses standard veterinary growth curves (AAHA-aligned) that establish what percentage of adult weight a puppy has reached at each month, broken out by size category. We linearly interpolate between data points and present a 15% confidence range to reflect real-world variation.

Food Calculator

Implements the RER (Resting Energy Requirement) formula used in vet schools: RER = 70 × (weight_kg)^0.75. We then apply MER (Maintenance Energy Requirement) multipliers for life stage, neutering status, body condition, and activity level — values from Small Animal Clinical Nutrition.

Safe Foods Database

Each entry is cross-referenced against the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center database, the AKC veterinary content, and the Merck Veterinary Manual. Where evidence is conflicting (looking at you, "is dairy okay?"), we give you the real nuance instead of a binary yes/no.

Disclaimers

These tools are educational. They aren't a substitute for your vet, who can examine your specific dog and review their full medical history. If your dog is sick, injured, or has eaten something dangerous — call your vet or the ASPCA Poison Control hotline (888-426-4435 in the US).

We don't run ads, sell your data, or have a paywall. If we ever start, we'll tell you up front.
